Native American Stories
Cheif Seattle's "letter", or speech.

Chief Seattle was an influential Native American Chief who fought to make peace with the white man while trying to introduce rights for Native Americans about how their land was to be treated by white settlers. Chief Seattle originally wrote and spoke this “letter” as a speech, and it was transcribed and later published in the Seattle Sunday Star some 30 years later in 1887. Unfortunately the original transcription has been lost and now there have been over 100 reconstructions of this speech. This article will be referencing the transcription provided by the Seattle Sunday Star written in 1887.
